I'm going off topic for this entry today as this might be the last day for a very historic ship. The SS Badger's season ends today and quite possibly for good. Reason: dumping coal ash in Lake Michigan and while environmentalists want the car ferry to clean up it's act now, the Badger is also vital to the economy for both ports she serves (Ludington, Michigan and Manitowoc, Wisconsin). Honestly, I'm neutral in this as both arguments have merit, however, I would like to see more action and a little bit of compromise so both sides can be happy and the ship keeps running. This year, SS Badger has been more vital than ever, transporting equipment and parts for wind turbines, making Lake Michigan Carferry (LMC) extend their season from their original end date of October 14.
