In peril on the sea

a blog dedicated to all seafarers who lost their lives and their families

With recent losses at sea in the area, it brings a painful reminder that every seafarer has to respect the ocean, but, at the same time, it can get you and/or your vessel if /or when it feels like it.  The sad part about a career on the ocean is there is a big possibility you may never come back from a trip on the ocean.  We here in Nova Scotia, we are nicknamed "Canada's Ocean Playground" But that playground can be risky at times in the worst conditions out there.  Fierce weather has claimed many ships in our corner of the world and the waters off Peggy's Cove claimed Swissair flight 111 and 230 people back on September 2, 1998.  A very somber day in our Maritime communities for sure.  Past losses at sea can question the mortality of all seafarers at some point in their lives, whether right away or even years later.  One thing is for certain, the oceans will never be conquered.
