According to an article from CBC, the Bluenose II will only conduct sea trials by the end of next month. The reason being: still perfecting a steel rudder as specified by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). There have been hundreds of modifications to the design of the ship because of the underwriter and I totally understand the reasoning behind all these delays is to make sure she meets stringent safety requirements set out by the underwriter and I'm being very patient when it comes to building a wooden boat up to today's standards and perhaps why the project is now over budget. The reason why the bowsprit was removed was because it did not follow the lines of the ship, the new one yet to be installed does.
